Our Favorite Recipes: Strawberry Daquiris!

09.09.16 - BY Nona Raybern

You know, gathering from the things that we like to talk about here at RSVP, one might assume that we enjoy the drink (like strawberry daquiris). And one would be very correct in that assumption, especially when we get to find new and creative ways to use our gadgets to make delicious little cocktails! Now, our juicing tools are some of the most convenient in the industry, from our Citrus Juicer that sits atop a Pyrex to the Endurance® Lemon & Lime Juicer, made of 18/8 stainless steel. But if you’ve ever tried to juice a lime, you know that they are more stubborn and far less forgiving than juicing any other kind of citrus. So sometimes, you need to get creative, especially when your cocktail is on the line.

Here, the tale of how a garlic press journeyed to become the little juicer it could.

From the words of our fabulous Art Director, Steph Smith:

Picked the last of this year’s crop of fresh strawberries… hummm, now what to do with them?
Ice Cream topper?… ho hum
Add to yogurt?… blah
Eat as is? … yeah, could…
Smoothies?… too healthy

But wait!

What about…
Strawberry Daiquiris?… oh yes please!

Strawberry Daquiris – The Recipe

2 cups fresh strawberries, washed and tops cut off (haven’t tried yet with frozen strawberries, but when I do, I suspect I won’t need the ice cubes)
4 oz. light rum
3 Tbl. sugar or Simple Syrup
1 oz. Cointreau
3 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice (or more if you like it extra tart) * see NOTE *

*NOTE*: Here’s the learning part of this recipe – a trick for squeezing smaller sized limes… I started by using the RSVP Citrus Juicer (#JUC-1) but the limes were slightly too small to thoroughly press the juice out of. I thought, “now what can I use for this that will be quick and efficient?”…

Ahhh-ha!

Grabbed my latest favorite gadget, the RSVP Garlic Press… I cut the small limes into quarters and fit each one into the extra-large chamber and pressed. Voila! it was super efficient, easy on my hands, and in no time I had all the fresh squeezed lime juice I needed. Needless to say I was thrilled that I found another use for my most used RSVP kitchen gadget!

OK, back to the recipe:

Put all ingredients into a blender and let it whirl. Add a scoopful of ice cubes to reach a slushy consistency or more/less to reach preferred consistency.

Makes 2 full glass servings.

So, cheers to that, little Garlic Press on coming through for two delicious glasses of Strawberry Daquiris. Without you, life would be meaningless.
