Spicy Paloma – A Jalapeño & Grapefruit Cocktail Speckled with Brown Sugar

Spicy Paloma

Have you ever had a spicy cocktail? If you answered that question with a “no”, then you are missing out my friend. You wouldn’t think spice could cool you down, but nothing brings the crisp factor like a little heat. Our Spicy Paloma cocktail will have you longing for summer nights to never end.

What’s in a Paloma? A paloma traditionally is just tequila and grapefruit soda served over ice. Nothing too fancy, but we decided to doctor it up a little bit.

We have a long list of barware in our Endurance® product line, so finding the right tools was easy. A classic jigger, a citrus juicer, a cocktail shaker, and a strainer.

While normally the grapefruit soda would add just the right amount of sweetness, we’ll be using fresh grapefruit juice in our Spicy Paloma cocktail. So we need to add that sugar back in. Opting for brown sugar gives the drink a more complex layer than using plain white sugar or simple syrup and really pairs well with the jalapeño.

While our recipe uses a Blanco (or silver) tequila, you can use any kind of tequila you want. If you want to try a Reposado or Anejo to give it some depth (remember that both these types of tequilas are barrel-aged), just remember that it will slightly affect the flavor of the drink and you may need to make appropriate adjustments to the ingredients.

However way you want to try it, if you’re looking for a summer sipper to enjoy on your deck, this is the perfect drink for you.

Serve these drinks up with the new Endurance® Short Drinks Straws!
